Needless to say, the Yonex brand made a lot of changes, packing this racket with power without sacrificing control or stability. To find out if they lived up to the fan’s expectations, keep scrolling because, as a USPTA certified tennis instructor myself, I have a lot to say on what would be an honest and straightforward review.

Yonex EZONE 100 Specifications

The Yonex EZONE 100 is a tennis racket suitable for a wide range of players of all game styles. The first thing you notice when unpacking the racket it’s the modern design, with colors that go from navy to light blue.

Unlike previous models, the beam’s cross-section part is thicker for increased stability, while the frame is thinner for a softer response. The racket’s throat has been updated, too, to improve the ball feedback and help the player be in more control.

Yonex EZONE 100 weighs around 300 g, but it can be adjusted by adding extra weight throughout the racket. It has a slightly larger head than the other models, featuring an isometric shape to increase the sweetspot size and add more power.

The Yonex tennis racket brand has used different new technology to make Yonex 100 EZONE suitable for less advanced players.

  • M40X Technology – using a special graphite material to improve the racket’s performance, delivering more power, control, stability, and feel.
  • Liner Tech technology – the special angle that lengthens the frame’s vertical strings aims to increase the spin level and enlarge the sweetspot. This also makes the frame’s center strings tighter, increases control levels, and also makes the racket more forgiving and comfortable.
  • Mesh for vibration damping – the extra cushioning material on the handle makes Yonex EZONE 100 more comfortable by absorbing vibrations and reducing shock impact.

Yonex EZONE 100 specs:

  • Head size: 100 sq. inch /  645.16sq. cm
  • Length:27 in / 68.58 cm
  • Weight: 11.2 oz / 318 g
  • Balance: 4 pts HL
  • Swingweight: 317
  • Stifness: 67
  • Beam width:23.8 mm / 26.5 mm / 22.5 mm
  • Composition: 2G-NAMD SPEED / HM Graphite

Groundstrokes – Score: 8.6

It was in the groundstrokes where Yonex EZONE 100 really excelled. The racket provides high levels of power, it’s easy to maneuver, and the usual ping sound is more muted. It’s very easy to connect with this racket, and I really enjoyed the nice, plush feeling it delivers.

Yonex EZONE 100 Review Gorundstroke

The backhand slices were my favorite because I was able to add more depth with ease in each shot. Full, powerful swings were effortless with Yonex EZONE 100, and I was able to generate a lot of spins throughout the game.

Yonex EZONE 100 is quite balanced considering the tennis racket weight, and it allows you to hit all your targets with precision. The high power it delivers is controlled, and it doesn’t sacrifice stability or spin, which makes Yonex EZONE 100 a very versatile racket. It is also more forgiving, allowing a high margin of error due to the isometric geometry that is unique to this model.

Yonex EZONE 100 Review Groundstroke Shot

Even though it doesn’t have a muted feel, I was very fond of the racket’s vibration dampening. This racket will allow you to play smarter tennis and stay confident even under pressure.

Volleys – Score: 8.7

Up in the net, I was able to hit the volley with ease and close points fast, thanks to the high maneuverability of Yonex EZONE 100. I loved the great blend of high speed and stability; this racket provided, which gave me better reflexes and more confidence whenever I was close to the net.

Drop volleys were my top favorite, and overall I found it quite easy to connect with the ball and direct the shots. It’s also easier to get in the position, too, without feeling like your opponent is pushing you around. If you are playing doubles, you will certainly love Yonex EZONE 100.

Everything from angles, short touch volleys to volley deep you will not miss with this racket. I was first skeptical of the 100-inch tennis racket head size but performed surprisingly well from the baseline to the front of the court throughout the game.

Even though this racket is loaded with power, it still provides enough control, and in the hands of a skillful player, it can easily be weaponized. The new technology used did a great job at making this racket more comfortable and absorbing vibration.

The only drawback I could find, though, is the feel of the racket, which wasn’t exactly the best during volleys; at least to me, it felt like it could perform better when it came to volleys. It’s important to highlight that the Yonex EZONE 100 style is most suitable for an intermediate modern baseliner that is versatile in all areas of the court.

If you are more into the classical game style, you might find the performance of this racket lacking.

Serve – Score: 8.6

Overall, Yonex EZONE 100 delivered a good performance when it came to servings. The new updates on the stick make the racket well-balanced and solid. It delivers an amazing blend of spin and power and a bit of extra control, which was a nice surprise.

Yonex EZONE 100 Review Serve

If you are looking to improve in serving and need a boost of confidence, then you should definitely consider Yonex EZONE 100. This racket is very versatile, and I loved slice servings, which helped to pull my opponent off the court and close off the points fast with an easy cross-court shot.

Another advantage this Yonex tennis racket has to offer is comfort; you won’t feel arm fatigue even when constantly hitting second serves because it is very easy on the arm. The racket could be a little more precise when it comes to servings; however, I was able to hit all of my targets without fail with a little effort.

It also delivered a lot of spins, thanks to the open string pattern. During the playtest, Yonex EZONE 100 was easy to maneuver, and despite the heavier weight than the previous models, the player can generate a nice rhythm effortlessly.

Returns – Score: 8.7

At returns also, Yonex EZONE 100 was an absolute hit. It delivered a good performance, checking all the right boxes. I love the feeling of the ball constantly sinking on the stringbed, which allowed me to direct with precision all my returns.

Yonex EZONE 100 Review Return

The player is able to connect right away with the racket and get it in place even when facing big serves. It allows you to be more aggressive while constantly maintaining rhythm and pace. The 100 sq inch head size adds depth with each shot, while the updates on the stick make it easy to direct the ball and predict where it would land.

During the playtest, there were times when I wished for weight, whenever I had to block back bigger serves. However, I loved the blend of power and spin, which really come in handy when taking a big cut of the ball. This racket’s high level of maneuverability made it much easier to get back into position also.

Yonex EZONE 100 is also very comfortable for the arm and allows a higher margin of error. You can’t really go wrong with this racket at returns; it gave very little to complain about.

Overall – Score: 8.64

Overall, Yonex EZONE 100 is a good tennis racket, and the new updates paid off, increasing the racket’s playability and performance. This can work well for a wide range of players of all skill levels, but I would recommend it best for intermediate to slightly advanced players.

It classifies more like a “twinner” type of racket, delivering a great mix of power, spin, stability, and control. There is a lot of competition in this category, such as Wilson Clash 100 or Babolat Pure Aero, but Yonex EZONE 100 has a lot of potentials to stand out and become a fan favorite.

The racket has a large sweetspot, and a slightly muted feeling. During contact, it feels plush, and the ball sinks into the open patterned stringbed.

This racket is very versatile and works well in all grip techniques. My favorite was the backhanded slices, in which it was easy to add depth with each shot and land the ball with precision on the court.

During the playtest, Yonex 100 EZONE excelled the most; this is a perfect option for a modern baseliner looking for a versatile racket. Thanks to the new technology, this racket is also quite comfortable and easy on the arm, allowing a higher margin of error.

The cosmetic of Yonex EZONE 100 is also very modern and stylish, with an impressive paint job. This racket gave little to complain about, delivering all their promises. The brand has done a great job in the seventh generation racket and is worthy of all the praise they are getting from tennis fans.

Different Models

If Yonex EZONE 100 doesn’t live up to all your requests, you can always turn to this racket’s other versions and previous models. They are very similar in terms of quality but have adjusted features that are suitable for different skill levels.

You can decide what fits you best; after evaluating other racket specifications and your own skills and game style, you can decide what fits you best.

Yonex EZONE 98 vs. 100

Yonex EZONE 98 has a slightly smaller head size compared to Yonex EZONE 100. This is an important change since it allows the racket to deliver more control, spin, and stability. However, it does have lower power levels, and it’s not as forgiving and arm-friendly.

The large spot of the Yonex EZONE 98 is also smaller, and the racket is less maneuverable. This is mostly suitable for the advanced or professional players, who can generate enough physical strength on their own and have mastered the right skills to take full advantage of a racket as such.

It is able to generate heavy topspins, terrific speed, and precision with each shot. Overall, this is a great tennis racket, especially for aggressive baseliner, but if you are a beginner or have just switched to intermediate level, it’s better to stay away from Yonex EZONE 98.

Yonex EZONE 100 vs. VCORE 100

Yonex EZONE 100 and VCORE 100 are very similar rackets, with minor changes in the technical specification. Both classify as “twinners” and are suitable mostly for intermediate to slightly advanced players.

These rackets have the same head size and are loaded with a high level of power. They do, however, deliver a good blend of spin, control, and stability.

Yonex EZONE 100 weighs a little more; however, the difference is almost unnoticeable when holding these rackets. On the other side, VCORE 100 has a slightly higher swing weight, but not enough to make a difference in the power these two deliver.

The balance is also the same, and since these are light-headed rackets, they are easy to maneuver.

The features of these rackets are pretty much the same, with tiny differences that don’t really mean much since they perform almost the same. Their main noticeable difference is only in their aesthetics, so choosing between Yonex EZONE 100 vs. VCORE 100 comes down to personal preferences.

The Yonex tennis racket brand had done a pretty good job on their new release and delivered all their promises for a high-performance racket. Their seventh generation of racket line, Yonex EZONE 100, has a lot of potential to become an absolute hit and a best seller on the market.
